Heroes: Ron Paul

March 16th, 2009 by yuukanna

This will kick off my “Heroes” series of posts where I will post about one of my heroes. The first one will be one of my most recent heroes.

Ron Paul

Ron Paul is the ONLY politician right now that I believe in. I respect his history in congress, love his legislative ideas, and respect him as a man who is fighting to keep The United States of America alive. I also believe him to be one of the very few in our government that actually understands economics.
I first discovered him during the 2008 Presidential Race. Early on I was really looking hard at politics since I had come to understand that I didn’t necessarily take my parent’s political views as my own, and I was dissatisfied with Bush. I was considering which party I wanted to join, because if Bush was the standard bearer, I thought the Republican party had failed me.
First I started noticing the Democratic parties candidates as I watched the YouTube Democratic Primary Debates. I liked that the majority of them were saying we needed to get out of Iraq, I liked Dennis Kucinich’s statements of a few things. So I jumped the gun and changed to the Democratic Party.
I challenged myself to watch the Republican Primaries. I was disappointed with most of them. Seldom however, I did notice that there was another candidate that had something good to say that everyone else balked at. I looked up that candidate online. It was Ron Paul.
Everything Ron Paul had to say made sense. He wasn’t playing political games and was talking about real issues. He was the only candidate in the Republican party that wanted to bring the troops home, not just the ones in Iraq, but ALL OF THEM, and for good reason.
I switched parties again in time to vote for him in the primaries. We all know he didn’t make it through, but I still believe that if people had the chance to really hear him, he would have had a better chance against Obama than any other candidate had.
Thank God that Ron Paul made it back into congress, he may be outnumbered, but he still acts as the only politician to keep clean while the others are defiling themselves.
My Opinion, is that if the founding fathers were alive today (would they be weeping of what?), Ron Paul is the only politician that would have their support.

If you haven’t before, Google Ron Paul, find him on YouTube. Read some of his articles here.

Long live the rEVOLution!
